You Are Not Alone
We can help you make the best decision for your next car. Maybe you have bought many cars in the past or this will be the first. The game has changed. Even experts struggle to keep up with the technologies, serious mechanical issues, recalls, dealer tricks that make you pay whatever they can get away with for repairs and hidden surveillance systems tracking you and reporting to your insurer.
We have all seen car prices escalating to ridiculously heights every year. If you have not been ca shopping lately you are in for a shock. Here are your choices:
1. Buy New
You can ruin your financial future buying overpriced vehicles that soon breakdown requiring dealer-only repairs that take weeks to schedule and parts that may take months to arrive. You will be coerced into signing 84 month loans lasting much longer than what you bought in a desperate attempt to get a payment you can make.
2. Buy Used
Dealers lie. Private sellers lie. You are on you own to figure it out.
Many people are scared away from buying a used car. There are over 700 different makes and models for multiple generations since 2000 totaling to over 18,000 by model years. If you guess you may as well invest in lottery tickets.
So they and decide to buy new so they get a warranty. That used to be a good option. Unfortunately with jacked up prices, planned obsolescence and design to meet EPA regulations instead of reliability this option is now longer a good one. Your success depends on knowing what makes and models were known to be reliable and which were disasters from day one.
We know and we will be happy to tell you. It’s critical to get a pre-purchase inspection to find out what’s up with a specific car you find. We can refer you to a local shop.
3. Keep Your Car
If your “older” car or truck runs well and has been maintained properly you are a true winner in this game. Resist the siren call tempting you with glitter and gizmos. Why take out more debt to drive a product that will break and spy on you. If you don’t have a car, and can’t walk or bike because our cities are not designed for that then you must choose. Wisely. If your car is not doing too good, get an expert mechanic to take a look and advise you on what it will take to make it reliable. Make the decision based on economics not ego. Nobody cares what you drive. Your friends and neighbors will be happy to show off their latest toy but they won’t be happy to tell you what it costs them every month to show off and bolster their weak egos. We can refer you to a local shop.
